HCIS was founded more than 20 years ago when the founder, who was working in the industry at the time, saw a need for a more comprehensive purchasing program for long-term facilities. During the creation of this organization, the concept of a Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) was tweaked to include unique characteristics such as working with exclusive partners in order to maximize purchasing power and the idea of “one for all” pricing, where each member is priced along the same continuum under our purchasing umbrella.
Another unique addition that HCIS made to a standard Group Purchasing Organization included an in-house customer service team that handles the ordering process and allows our dedicated team members to ensure that each order has met negotiated vendor agreements and has received maximum cost savings.
Due to a strong desire to assist clients with increasing their revenues, members of HCIS formed Medi-Bill Systems (MBS) in 1986 to help long-term care facilities stake their rightful claim on Medicare Part B revenue that has historically been directed to third-party suppliers. Nearly ten years later, MBS introduced Medicare Part A billing and consulting services because of an unfulfilled need within the marketplace.
Today, HCIS proudly serves more than 600 members, while MBS has steadily grown to 80 clients and counting. We value the partnerships we’ve built with each valued client and are continually looking for new ways to serve existing and future customers. Services include Medicare claims management, nurse consulting, and consultant dietician services to long-term care facilities, in addition to the core group purchasing system.
